MUCH HAS BEEN ACHIEVED, THERE'S MUCH
MORE STILL TO BE DONE AND LOTS OF PEOPLE
WILL BE INVOLVED. PHOTOVOLTAICS IS THE
ENERGY OF THE FUTURE.

Germany is the leading nation in the field of photovoltaics. Nowhere else is research, development and manufacture being pursued with such intensity. For example, the micromorph silicon thin film technology was developed at the Jülich Research Centre.

Q-Cells SE was one of the first companies to recognise the enormous potential of the new technology: the first steps were taken at an early stage in order to turn a highly promising idea into a product that can be mass produced. A lot has happened in the meantime. The development project has become a Q-Cells subsidiary: Sontor GmbH. Test laboratories have been turned into an advanced manufacturing plant. This is where solar modules of the highest quality and reliability are being created with the help of state-of-the-art technology from leading machine manufacturers.

Sontor and micromorph silicon thin film technology are still in their early stages. Nevertheless, we are enjoying rapid growth: we will be significantly increasing our production figures by as early as 2009 and so pushing open the gateway to a solar future that little bit wider.
